2023 Canada – Wrap up

As promised, here is a quick wrap up from this trip, where we talk about the things we liked and things we might improve for next time.

Usually, we do an individual top five things, but when we discussed it seemed we both agreed on what the top five were (in no particular order:

Top Five:

1. Driving the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise.

2. Getting close to the bears at Neet’s bay.

3. The cruise and in particular meeting many new and interesting people.

4. Butchhart Gardens on Vancouver Island.

5. The Rocky Mountaineer train.

While we only covered the west coast and Rocky Mountains, we found the scenery to be stunning wherever we looked. We found the Canadians to be friendly and accomodating, but with the exchange rate, tipping and state taxes it is quite expensive. Most attractions cost circa $75 so over 4 weeks it all mounts up.

If we were doing the trip again, we would probably fly into Victoria, which would have given us an extra day in Banff. I was a bit disappointed to miss the Hubbard Glacier, but overall a great holiday and highly recommended.

Lastly a big thank you for all those who followed along. Looking forward to your company on the next trip, which at this stage looks like being Sri Lanka!
