Rest Day in Tulum

Today is day 3 of our rest break in the middle of the holiday, before we move on to Costa Rica. It will be a short blog today and another travelling day tomorrow. Again, we had a nice sleep in this morning prior to heading to the beach. We hired a Cabana for the day so we could lie about in comfort, but we were certainly doubting that decision as few showers blew through.

The weather improved after an early shower, so we were able to stay on the beach for some drinks and lunch.

We stayed on the beach until about 3 in the afternoon before going to the spa for a massage and hydrotherapy session, which was very relaxing.

Being our last night we decided to have dinner at one of the better restaurants, so we went to the Italian one, mainly because the French one is closed at the moment, for some undisclosed reason. We thought we’d have a couple of drinks at the verandah bar, which was entertaining because we got to see some local wildlife… a Lemur and a Racoon. This was exciting for us, but probably not so much for the resort owners as these guys are excellent rubbish bin scavengers.

One of the discoveries of this trip has been that there are some wines made in Mexico which are pretty decent. There seems to be a thing here of having multiple meat items as your meal. I had salmon, steak and shrimps, while Debbie went for the lobster, steak and shrimps. The meal was excellent and we finished with a ‘burning dessert’ that was spectacular.

That was about all for today, but we are both feeling refreshed and ready for the Costa Rica leg of the trip. Tomorrow is another travelling day, so probably another short blog tomorrow.

Until Tomorrow!
