So with getting back to the room late last night, I didn’t write any commentary around Todd and Amy’s wedding. There were some concerns earlier in the week about whether a thunderstorm may coincide with the wedding itself, however it wasn’t until about 6PM that the storm rolled in, well after the 4PM ceremony.

The ceremony itself all went well and I got to have my ‘proud dad’ moment walking Amy down the path. Everyone played their parts, although Axle the dog was extremely tired, so he had a little sleep. The Celebrant was excellent, having really captured who Todd and Amy are. It was a perfect ceremony for them.

With the formalities over, we had some canapés and drinks. It was quite hot outside and Melbourne seemed to turn on it hot weather for the whole week that we visited. Dinner was served in an air-conditioned space (thankfully) although the storm outside provided quite a lightning and thunder show. All the sets of parents got through their respective speeches with flying colours, Jess leveraged google to come up with a great speech at short notice and the happy couple set off to enjoy their night!

Amy and Todd both worked hard at getting around to all their guests! Here’s Amy and her cousin Clair

And of course the Bridesmaids looked their best… here’s Jess and Salita (when Salita was still behaving herself)

A great night was had, but as always these occasions pass so quickly and it was soon time to head back to our accomodation. We had a charter bus back to the Sofitel and them a 1 minute wait for a tram back to Fitzroy.
We closed off the wedding celebrations with a family catch up at the Riverland beer garden. Amy and Todd will head off on their honeymoon to Thailand and the Maldives tomorrow and we wish them the best.
That pretty much closes off this trip as we head back home tomorrow. We’ve enjoyed the getaway from the everyday… ate some great food, but most of all got to spend time with family in the lead up and just really soak up the whole wedding experience. We signed off tonight with a cocktail in one of Fitzroy’s cocktail bars (The Black Pearl), prior to another 3 course meal.

I’ll need a few bike rides before we head off to New Zealand in 3 weeks time.
Until 23 December!
