We had no set schedule this morning, so we didn’t rush out out bed. Ben had recommended a local cafe called ‘Babka’ that we should try. Babka is one of the older cafe’s along Brunswick Street and is well known for it’s cakes and specialty breads and teas. Having eaten enough food to sink the Titanic yesterday, I decided toast and a homemade berry jam would be just fine. So with breakfast done we had another wander about the shops looking for a make-up artist so Debbie could be appropriately made up for Friday’s wedding. This was a largely unsuccessful endeavour, but again the weather was hot and the sky was clear.

As lunchtime approached, we thought we would grab a coffee at one of the corner cafes a street or two back from Brunswick St. We chose a place I ordered a coffee, but when Debbie ordered her normal Chai Latte on Almond milk, we were informed that we were in an Espresso and Wine Bar, so that would not be available. Deb had a lemonade instead. In their defence, the coffee was good.

Instead of staying for lunch we went to a pub, and ate off the snack menu. Lamb Ribs and Chicken Ribs made for a ‘right sized’ snack. In contrast to the last stop the service was friendly and the food was excellent. They let me take a photo of their sign as long as I promised to put it on my blog.

So there was more work to be done for the wedding so I took one last photo up Brunswick Street, prior to braving the public transport network again.

Once again we trekked out to Chelsea where Amy had organised a working bee to thread a bunch of decorative wreaths with rosemary for wedding tables. Todd and I decided that there were enough helpers and even though we are both very skilled at crafty stuff, left it to the ladies… and watched a game of Ice Hockey instead. We stayed on for a few wines and some local Thai food.

Then it was back on the train and tram network back to the apartment. I must say, that coming from Brisbane I am not used to taking long trips on public transport, but it has worked well and is pretty cost effective. Tomorrow is wedding eve, so I’m off to polish up my speech!
Until tomorrow!
